So I just started picking up Spider-Man again, I had stopped right around the time the new young-girl Kraven the Hunter was introduced. The story seemed, I dunno, melancholy? Hopeless? To depressing? I love it when the world shits on Peter Parker (like everyone does) but something in the new series was just too much. I’m thinking his separation from Mary Jane is what it is. I mean…. ugh.
I started reading spidey comics when Todd Mcfarlane was still doing them, right before he did the “Spider-Man” line. And my brain is so caught up in the Spider-Man mythos of that time, that this whole Brand New Day stuff is really… startling? to me. Not that change isnt sometimes good, its that change is also sometimes bad.
What I want in a Spider-Man comic is for Mary Jane to be sex-craved, Venom to be an unstoppable juggernaut of evil, Hobgoblin to be constantly blowing shit up, and Peter to have great hair. The newest run of comics does one thing very right to fit into my comfort zone, the reintroduction of Hobgoblin.
Now I have a hard time keeping track of the Goblins. There have been so many that I don’t know if Spider-Man even knows whats going on with them anymore. Like what happened to Demigoblin? He was fucking awesome. Anyway, theres a lot of goblins/ people in masks riding on gliders, but of all of them Hobgoblin was always the coolest. Mostly because he was the 90s-upped Green Goblin. Way more willing to be a total dick than any other goblin before.
And now that Hobgoblin is back (or more accurately, a guy in the suit who just started being Hobgoblin) I am very hard. Woops I mean excited. he.
This entry is a mess. All I want you to know is that Hobgoblin is in the current Amazing Spider-Man comics, and thats fucking sweet.
