So. I’m not going to rant here, but you may or may not know that I am staunchly anti-apple for a whole tugboat full of reasons. Some of which are very superficial. Some not-so.

But seriously, I cannot even fathom the worldwide orgasm over the iPad. There have been tablet PCs for awhile now, and I bet none of them are outclassed enough by apples newest bitch for all the uproar and hype. I mean seriously people, if I were to buy this thing I would be constantly furious over my inability to do shit I would want to do on a computer.

Also there’s the whole data-plan thing… when did Apple become a cunt? I mean really. They expect the world to pay 360 dollars for one year of tablet-internetting. Do you know how INSANE that is? HAS ANYONE DONE THE MATH YET?

I, like many I am sure, already pay for internet, cable, and a phone. Why would I want to pay more just so I can use an iPad on my couch? And you might say to me “But Colin, you don’t have to get the data plan if you are such a grump.” and I would then slap your man-tits and yell “THEN WHATS THE FUCKING POINT OF OWNING ONE?”

Just like horse-armor, I think this shit is going to set a nasty precedent, of companies releasing narrow-minded products that basically require contracts just to maintain functionality. Am I going to have to rent songs from the iTunes store? Will they stop working in 90 days? It all seems like another step towards microtransactions, and of bleeding the customer after they have already bought the main product.

Sorry I lied about not ranting. Its just… it feels like the world is being sold a turd rubbed in gold, but since its from the shiniest and most look-at-me company in existence, its going to sell like fuck. Fuck all of you.

[[EDIT] So Adam (you remember him? guy who used to update on this.) immediately barraged me with a flurry of text messages pointing out all the inaccuracies in my above raging. So apparently I don’t know what I am talking about, and the iPad does wifi just fine. Sooooo most of my bitching makes no sense unless you don’t have wifi in your home. I apologize for nothing!]
