So EGM, or Electronic Gaming Monthly is officially over. I won’t go into the gory details, but would rather just think for a moment. I was a supporter of EGM from issue one, it had Mega Man 2? on its cover I believe, and I do not think we will ever see gaming journalism of its caliber again in our lifetimes. I still cherish some of the ridiculous 297? page issues from the 90s there, those were some good times weren’t they guys?
But just as it will go for all media, video killed the radio star once again, and the internet has stabbed the last great gaming mag through its lungs. Also I would just like to point out with a bitter heart the awful hypocrisy of gaming sites to get mushy-feely about the ending of the magazine. Would Pepsi act like they gave a shit if Coke closed their factory doors? HELL NO, pepsi would be gang-banging itself it utter complete joy. So shame on you gaming websites, you don’t deserve all the blame for EGMs death, but you sure as fuck didn’t help. (yes, although i am sure some people who write for gaming sites also have subscriptions, blah blah blah, im venting here people)
ok, lets move on.

Actually, EGM was still going pretty strong. It was still circulating 550-650K issues a month.
It was almost entirely killed by UGO’s purchasing of 1up.
