Airheads, what a great flick. I can’t help but to think of Brendan Fraser as a bad actor, but whenever I look back on his films, I realize how much they entertain. The aforementioned Airheads, where he costarred with Adam Sandler and Steve Buscemi; The Mummy, which is a somehow forgettable but nevertheless sweet ride of an action movie that has it all; Blast from the Past, which is just awkward, but god damnit if it doesn’t make me laugh.
So, I have decided to enroll myself into the school of hard knocks. I mean Dungeons & Dragons. I have never played before, and never really thought of playing, but with the new release of the fourth edition, and me being all grown up and much less concerned with a great many things, and much more concerned with a few, I feel a deep urge to get my dice on. I picked up the Player’s Handbook and the Keep on the Shadowfell adventure pack, as well as a set of dice including my very first twenty sided die.
I haven’t gotten a game going yet, but I am dying to get started. Just reading through the books and creating characters has already been fun enough to justify the purchases. My first character creation was a Dragonborn Warlord. His back story places him as the under-appreciated tactical commander who takes over when his glorified superior falls to a mutinous second in command. He then leads tired and battle weary forces to stand strong against the coup of a force that greatly outnumbers them until everyone but he and the mutinous second remain, but his opponent flees the battlefield, a ghastly act of dishonor to the Dragonborn. No one hears the tale, but he searches for the mutineer. Despite this creation, I will probably be the dungeon master for our first campaign, seeing as how I am the one with the adventure book, but I hope to play this character in our next adventure.
I’ll see if I can actualyl whip up a Ninja Ken strip or two this week. This device is intense and y mind splits trying to guide the pen around that small space.
