I’m on a dirty Star Wars binge right now. I read a crap load of expanded universe novels back in the day. My eldest brother was into it and I snagged some of his paperbacks and soon started picking them up myself. I guess sometime during high school or college I just stopped. I think I stopped during the beginning of the New Jedi Order books. I believe they began coming out sometime around the turn of the century. I have a foot locker in my closet that is pretty much full of Star Wars novels, and the collection ends like five books into the New Jedi Order series. I think I must have stayed current with the books as they became available and then drifted off as I awaited the next installment. The series spans around twenty books, the longest in the expanded universe and deals with an extragalatic invading force of an alien species called the Yuuzhan Vong who seek to overtake the New Republic. They are mysteriously outside of the force and have advanced biological technology and despise machinery. Their values, mainly their embrace of pain as life’s constant, sets them far apart from most of those in the known galaxy. I dont even remember why I popped open that chest last week, but I’ve been pulled back in. I am finishing up the Han Solo trilogy now, and intend to finish the other holes in my collection soon. Some of these books are still my brother’s and I haven’t read all of them. After I fill in those gaps it will be time to move on from where I left off: battling the Yuuzhan Vong for dominance in the galaxy and trying to unite a splintering order of Jedi without falling to the dark side. Then there’s just a few books after that which I gather have some crazy things going on in them regarding theft generation of Jedi and I think some Sith make an appearance. The culmination of my higher education in the field of English is upon me; it takes the form of the force, as all things do: formless.

I have only read one Star Wars novel my entire life, it was about bounty hunters and I quite enjoyed it. Boba Fett was in it because he climbed out of the sarlacc pit and survived.
