So I have been a Weezer fan for a long time now, specifically ever since my buddy Jesus forced me to buy Pinkerton. And I hated it. Then I listened to it a bunch more, and gosh, then I loved it. And then I listened to blue, and loved that too. Then like 2 years later green came out… and um… well it was a good summer cd.

So I have bought every Weezer cd and thusly forced myself to buy Red, even though I had grave doubts of its craptacularity. And I must say, its actually pretty good. Um, well the first half is. The first half of the cd has got some awesome BA anthems, some really well written lyrics, and also a good amount of funky experimentation that’s not very Weezery, but still delicious…

Then the second half of the cd starts, and Rivers no longer contributes vocals, like at all. For like 3 or 4 songs of the 10. WHA??? The other singer guy does a fine-ish job, but the music instantly loses all its charm and sounds like any other “alternate” crap you could hear on the radio. I mean, damn son.

So is the cd worth it? Well the first half is great… the second half? I will keep listening to it and give it more chances to charm me, maybe it actually doesn’t blow.

I got it from best buy for 10 bucks, for that price I would say it is a buy.

Oh, and then there was the “Deluxe” version for $16.00 and FUCKY YOU Weezer for giving me that option, you are heart breakers. I was on the line, but did not buy it though. And now I regret that decision and I will prob have to buy it now because the normal cd was actually decent. fuck fuck fuck fuckufufdoiuicvjfk.

So does anyone want to buy the normal version of the cd for the discount price of $9? eh?

1. iTunes does not identify red album. does not compute. maybe that’s because only the deluxe edition will do. the capitalistic shame.
