Now that I’ve actually ridden my bike and not been cold, it is raining, and people are grilling, I have decided that Spring has arrived. The weather and almanac people say it was a few weeks ago, but it also snowed after that. The arrival of April and its famed “showers” make me think one thing: Rain-X. Yes, the amazing and spectacular silicon stuff you put on glass surfaces (works best on surfaces that also move, like cars and airplanes).
There have been many recent automotive safety breakthroughs in the past years. Anti-lock brakes, stability control, fuel injection, side airbags and common sense all come to mind. Although each make the driving experience safer, none offer the unbridled fun of watching rain fly off your windshield. It’s like magic, you’re just cruising along and the wipers don’t even need to do anything. Go pick up a bottle, read the directions, and apply to your car. Then send me a dollar because Rain-X isn’t going to send me anything for telling you that.
Also, I didn’t post last week because I was skiing in Colorado. Sucks to be all of you who were not. Due to an eight hour Amtrak delay, I was a temporary employee and helped distribute lunches to the rest of the passengers. That gives me permission to sing “I’ve been working on the railroad” whenever I choose until I die.
