|Nerd Bar|

I would very much like to see the innovation and/or evolution of a nerd bar scene. There are sports bars and coffee houses, but I often find that the only thing I enjoy about these places is the alcohol and my friends. Jocks and frat boys on one end of the spectrum, and burn outs and hippies at the other- forgive the generalizations. I want a relaxed place where I can have a conversation without straining my throat. Everyone there should feel comfortable and no one out of place. The decor could be geek friendly. Tables shaped like game board from the Milennium Falcon or the sphere grid from Final Fantast X. Televisions could run something besides ESPN, but not neccesarily ruling out. Imagine your favorite movies just running casually around the bar: Alien, Empire Strikes Back or even Big Trouble in Little China. Some sets could be previewing the latest in video game titles while others are actually hooked up played on. Game tournaments and tables for card games, from friendly Poker to Munchkin or Asshole. It could be paradise.

It’s just my nature to be the first one to find the holes in this dream. Like everyone else on the planet, all nerds are different; what caters to me might not cater to you. Who am I to say what the nerd collective would want out of a bar. Then there is just the practicality of having video games at a bar. Wireless controllers have made the risk to consoles less, but an intoxicated person can always find away, just like nature in Jurassic Park. All that aside, couldn’t we make a great place?

Maybe one day I will serve you a drink at The Good Guys Bar. That’s got a nice ring to it right?

Just to turn Colin’s stomach, I would like to say I am posting from my iPhone in the wilds of a Colorado vacation.
